The purpose of the Robotics Institute Training
program is to expose youth to technology,
teamwork and inventive prowess using
robotics as the catalyst.
|
About the Program
Our students will construct model robots that carry
out defined missions. Many students only use computer technology
for purposes of game playing, word-processing, and/or email. There
are few technical community based programs in the Atlanta which
expose students to an array of technical topics including design,
programming and more advanced technologies. We view the Robotics
Institute as an activity that will be both challenging and fun for
students and mentors. Using Mindstorms robotic kits in conjunction
with dedicated mentors from the National Society of Black Engineers
will enable us to achieve these goals.
The
Reward
The most rewarding aspect of the program, for the students, is the
experience. Their feedback has proven to us that they appreciate
the hands on mentoring and high impact training schedule. But in
addition to the experience, the students who successfully complete
the 10 week program also receive certificates stating that the student
has "Successfully Completed the National Society of Black Engineers
- Operation Peace Robotics Institute Training Program"
